Is it me, or does every other advert on the television seem to be government funded. There has always been the recruitment ads for the armed forces, "Be all you can be" etc. Fair enough, it is for a career, and in most cases a noble calling. Over the years years we have had numerous health campaigns, remember the AIDS one? And let's not forget the anti drug campaigns. I always remember the big billboard featuring a Scouser strung out on smack. It stigmatised Liverpudlians more than heroin abusers, if memory serves. But there heart seemed to be in the right place, and if nothing else they tried to educate. But over the last five or so years something strange has happened.
It all seemed to start with "Sid the Slug." Some busy body, on some busy body board, more than likely unelected, decided that our intake of salt was too much. Instead of hiring a respected expert in the field, somebody made the decision that get the message across, we would be better off being lectured by a CGI slug. Get it? Slugs don't like salt.
